21 Apr 4 Countries Exploration Tour

In September 2016 we will be leaving on a 14 day Exploration tour through 4 African Countries. This tour will start in Pretoria South Africa and will continue to the Groblersbrug border post between South Africa and Botswana.

From there we will head up to Francis Town We will stay there for a day or two and explore the area. The next destination will be Nata. We will visit places like the bird sanctuary. The sanctuary is a community managed reserve on the Sowa pan where bird life and wildlife is protected.

The Sowa pan forms a part of the Makgadikgadi Pans. You will experience the magnificent vast open space of the salt pans driving towards the look out point and with luck you will find the flamingos who come to breed in the winter. It is one of the greatest breeding sites for lesser and greater flamingos in the world. There are more than 150 other bird species to be found such as pelicans, stilts, korhaans, bustards and spoonbills.
Other wildlife to be seen includes springbok, ostriches, jackal, oryx, hartebeest, wildebeast and kudu. Don’t drive past the sanctuary when on your way to Maun or Kasane; it’s a perfect lunch stopover.
Nata Sanctuary is located 20 km south of Nata. We will most probably stay over at the famous Nata Lodge.

From there we will move up to Kasane. We will spend a couple days here to explore the area and go over into Zambia for a day. There are many things to do in the area. We will visit the famous Victoria falls and possibly take a boat cruise on the river, do photography as well as go for a safari in the Chobe National Park.

From there we will proceed through the Caprivi staying one or two days there. We then proceed to Oshikango or maybe even Ruakana. We thecan swing east again toward Tsumeb where we could visit the war museum (remember it from my army days) We can visit Lake Guinas and Otjikoto Lake as well as the Hoba meteorite.

From there we can either go down to Windhoek and experience the very vibrand city and travel to Gobabis back to Maun in Botswana or we can swing east back to Maun from Tsumeb.

From Maun we work our way down toward Serowe and down towards Gaborone. We exit at Derdepoot in south Africa and travel all the backroads back toward Sun City. The last day we take the roads back to Pretoria.
